Green Drop is a fourth generation family business. We’ve been in the growth business for over nine decades. Some highlights:
1936
Val Vista Ranch founded by Jim and Irene Robinson in Springbank, AB. They raise crops, cattle, and three boys. Jim and Irene redefine what it means to be community builders. In 1960 they donate the land that today is the Springbank Park For All Seasons.
1977
Robinson brothers Keith and John run custom harvesting operation. Over four months they travel from midwestern US to Northern Alberta with two John Deere 8870 combines and two grain trucks. They fight tornados in Kansas, floods in Montana, and skeptical border guards in Alberta. They decide to stick closer to home in the future.
1979
Green Drop Lawns Ltd. is founded. The first lawn care company of its kind in western Canada. John buys one truck and confidently puts an ad in the Calgary Herald advertising the “Green Drop Lawn Spray Service”. Phone rings off the hook. One truck is not enough.
1987
Green Drop Edmonton opened. There’s a tornado on opening day. After everything is cleaned up, Edmonton office is successful and stays at same location until 2019.
1991
Green Drop Winnipeg is founded by buying out a local company. Over the next decade Green Drop will add additional branches in Red Deer, Saskatoon, and Regina.
2006
State of the art Winnipeg Customer Care Centre is opened to great fanfare. And cake.
2015
Green Drop Lawns Ltd. passes milestone 40,000 annual subscribers. More cake. GreenKeeper™ consensus: We’re just getting started.
